anecdote-- please read

Good day at school...blah, blah, blah.

Anyway. Here's what I wrote at the top of Anecdote:

"For those of you who have sent in submissions already- THANKS! I've had 4 so far and they have been scheduled to post one at a time every other day with the first on May 1 and the last on May 7. Now here's the new part: Anyone who wants to can become an official author of Anecdote!!! Email me with the address that you want me to use to add you as a contributor, and you will have admin privileges! I'm going to do a new background/header and this blog is going *3 column!* The right one will basically what it has been and the left will be bios of the authors. ADVERTISE THIS ON YOUR BLOG AND EMAIL ME!"

My other blog, Anecdote is changing! As you probably know it used to be the place where Olive Tree and I shared our short stories and poems. But now, it's a lot for one person to handle. So I'm changing! First I asked for submissions, but now, I'm asking for you to become a contributor to this awesome blog! You don't have to post every day- maybe once a week or so, especially if we've got lots of people interested! So just email me at trebleclefblog@gmail.com and tell me. It's extremely easy. Also, I got the new look up there, and it's really cool :)

A Post of Many Topics

First I'll say sorry for not posting yesterday- Je regrette, mes amies!

Now the weather has been awful strange today. It's rained, a few minutes ago, the wind was gusting like crazy, it's been perfectly sunny and warm, and (so my mom says) there was a short snow squall. (I wouldn't know 'cause I did tons of work in school today)

Anyway, another thing that happened today was that our band director announced section leaders for the Memorial Day Parade. The section leaders are always 8th graders, and well, they lead their section. There are two (usually a boy and a girl) for each section plus one head section leader who oversees everything and does anything the band director tells them to do...to quote Mrs Barry "Immediately, or sooner." As it turns out, My good friend Super Gato is a section leader in the trumpets and another good friend Bella will be co-leading the flutes. And I got quite a surprise when I learned that I was the head section leader! Super cool...I'm really excited.

Finally I should really go because I've got homework to do...starting with science. We have to do these things called Earthweek's every week. This is the topic that I picked this week (they are all about this length, or shorter from www.earthweek.org)

''Pigeons seem to use a flexible system of leadership while choosing what direction to fly, in which every bird in the flock gets a vote, but status determines who are more likely to lead and who are followers. Scientist from Oxford University and Hungary’s Eötvös University fitted the birds with tiny GPS backpacks to plot their movements.
The team then measured shifts in the flight direction of each bird five times a second, documenting changes in direction and altitude among birds in the flock to determine which initiated any given change in direction and which followed.
Analysis revealed that there are well-defined hierarchies and ranks of leadership that determine which birds have the most influence.
Writing in the journal Nature, the researchers said they couldn’t tell if rank was determined by simple motivation or through inherited levels of navigation skills.
They say they also found that a bird's position in the flock matched its rank in the hierarchy, with individuals nearer the front more likely to be responsible for choosing which direction to fly."

Now I ask you this. How do I summarize this in a whole typed page?

Chillin' In The Rain

No, I'm not actually in the rain. I'm curled up on the couch in the office/music room. It's really where I spend most of my time at home...Anyway, I'm chilling after my day at school (I forgot how much work we do there!). And yeah, I'm a little tired. And this tiredness is probably why I was extremely happy not to have homework (well, that always makes me happy) and when I got home I poured myself a cup of coffee, popped some popcorn and plopped down on the couch with my laptop, which is of course where I am now. It's very nice with the drizzly weather. Yeah. So go do something fun and relaxing and just chill and blog about it after, ok? Yeah. Whatever. Sorry this was short (again)

Back to the old routine

*Bleah* I was really starting to like not waking up to my alarm clock in the morning. Sigh....And I much prefer waking up at 8:30 instead of 5:30. Unfortunately, 8:30 is after jazz band, and through most of my French class too. Anyway we're back in the regular schedule (which often means blog updates in the very early morning) today, but hey! Only 34 school days left! I'll post about my first day back later (ON MY LAPTOP AGAIN!!!!!!) but I just wanted to do a quick post now to let you guys know what was up. OK....bye now.

3...2...1...Randomness Blastoff!

I will open the dictionary to a random page and pick a random word. We shall see where this post goes from there...
The word is:
GRUMBLE.
Well, I will start by saying that I certainly am doing a whole lot of grumbling about going back to school tomorrow.
I'm sure that my schoolmates Bella, Elrania, and Ripplestar are grumbling along with me.
Let's face it.
No one wants vacation to end!
But I don't want to waste this random post by talking about school, so I'm making an executive decision and changing the topic to:
BUNNIES!!!
Yes, this seems like a happier topic, does it not?
Unfortunately, I can grumble about bunnies too.
It wasn't really the bunnies that did anything. It was band camp two years ago.
You see, we were in our sectional, and the trumpet instructor was very..erm..odd.
Anyway, we were working on a piece that was called 'Portrait of a Clown' and we got to a section that was supposed to be light and bouncy.
Any reasonable band director would stop right there.
But no, he goes in this really high pitched voice, scrunches up his face and says-
"Like a bunny!"
And THAT sad tale is why I grumble about bunnies.
Except not the chocolate kind.
Anyhoo, this is turning into quite the rant, isn't it? I think we need *one* more topic.
What's that?
OK.
The last topic word is....
BAT.
Yes! Finally something I don't have to grumble about because I like both kind of bats.
First, the sports kind.
You need a bat to go and hit a home run.
There I go again, stating the obvious.
So anyway.
I grumble about wooden bats but I quite like the metal ones.
In fact I need a new bat...
For softball and beating up poor, defenseless, little bunnies. (jk)
Now the animal the bat is even cooler.
We're even going to get a bat house this year!!!
Isn't that sooo cool?
OK. That was fun.

Adios!
Au Revoir!
Chao!
Aloha!
GOOD-BYE!!!!!!!!

It CANNOT be!

The picture above pretty much captures the feeling at the end of vacation. Hence, the title of this post. Because 'NOOOOOO IT CANNOT BE!!!' Is pretty much how I'm feeling about going back to school. (even though we *do* have tomorrow off as well) Sigh...I was just getting used to sleeping in and not getting up at 5:30 every morning-- lol. However, I'm on the home stretch now! In fact, 3 people in my family are. My mom, bwk, will be graduating from massage therapy school at the end of May, my brother, XanFan, is graduating 5th grade (moving out of elementary school, into junior high/middle school) on June 15 and I of course will be graduating 8th grade on June 14 and moving on to high school next year. Which ultimately means a lot of things (probably for all of us) 1. We don't have much new material to cover 2. We have lots of review 3. WE'LL PROBABLY BE HAVING GIANT TESTS AT THE BEGINNING ON JUNE. I don't mind the first two, but I could do without the third :) Anyhoo, that's where I'll be in these next two months or so: Studying, doing fun 8th grade stuff (like 8th grade dance, class trip to the lake, outdoor classes, section leaders for Memorial Day Parade, etc) and of course, feverishly preparing for the final concert- on June 9. It's going to be a great concert; I can just feel it. I'll be playing trumpet, cornet, trombone, mallets, singing in the chorus, and conducting a piece, so I've got LOTS to prepare for! Of course, I love it all so it's more pleasure and less work really :)

Tag from Cassie and Dreamstar

Thanks for tagging me with this insanely awesome tag to both of you! This is gonna be fun *smirks*

1. How many toes do you have?
5...on one foot. 5...on the other. Which equals...um....10.

2. How many bones have you broken?
Up until the beginning of this year I had a perfect record. Oh sure I'd been hurt loads of times (concussion, tendinitis, swine flu, etc. I'm quite accident prone) but never a broken bone. Then, one morning this past September (I think it may have been the first day of school) I was really excited so I jumped out of bed and started to run to the bathroom to shower but...I didn't realize that instead of being wide open, my door was ajar. And I slammed my poor little pinky toe into it. HARD. Yeah it was broken. Wow. That could even count for #3.

3. Name an epic thing that you have done.
Epic. Well I suppose that being one of only 3 people in my entire school to contract swine flu (H1N1) is pretty epic. Not to mention my going and buying my pro trumpet WHILE I has swine flu..... (it was an accident. I promise!)

4. If you had a pet lemming, what would you name him?
Puffball Fuzz. (Fuzz for short) IDK. That's kinda what I think of when I look at a picture of one.

5. What color are the clothes you're wearing right now?
Well, I've got on some navy athletic pants with white stripes (Ugh.....WHEN will my jeans be out of the dryer?! Honestly...) And light blue shirt with dark blue edge and dots. I'm very, um, ......blue......

6. How awesome are orca whales on a scale of one to ten?
You know...It depends. Like that orca who killed it's trainer? Not cool. So I'd say maybe a 5?

8. How old do you want to be when you die?
I'd love to live a real long time of course, but if I can't, well, that's why the songs say "Every second counts on a clock that's tickin' - you gotta live like you're dying" or "If today was your last day, if tomorrow was too late?"

9. Name a pet peeve and an addiction.
Ooh..pet peeve. Teachers who just stand up in front of the class and talk. And talk. And talk some more. And taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalk. Honestly. Science class is the worst part of my day because of that. One torturous hour every day. Sheesh. Addiction? Well THAT'S a hard one! It couldn't be music could it? It couldn't be the thing that makes my heart sing and sets my soul on fire, right? No, it just COULDN'T be! LOL. Of *course* it's music! :)

10. Write a paragraph detailing your life. 100 word minimum.
Well, I was born 14 years ago. I grew up loving education and music was always part of my life. My preschool and elementary years are mostly a blur, except for 5th grade which was when I picked up cornet and began walking the path of my new life (although I didn't know it at the time) Through middle school I gained more knowledge and in 7th grade I fully realized my ambition. My life now is to honor and and make my dream come real. I don't care how hard it is. I WILL become a band director, and show others my passion.

11. Name one thing that isn't really a secret, but that you haven't really gotten around to telling anyone.
Um....I really have no idea.

12. Name another pet peeve.
In blog posts where every. single. sentence. ends. with. an. exclamation. point. That annoys me to the point of talking about it through clenched teeth in one word sentences. Need I say more?

13. Sprechen Sie deutsch?
Non! Je parle en francais et anglais! N'est parle pas en deutsch. Francais ou anglais!!!

14. Tell a joke.
This was a favorite when I was little:

What time is it when the elephant sits on the fence?

TIME TO FIX THE FENCE!

15. How many of the questions have you answered in a witty manner so far?
Several. LOL!

16. Compose a haiku.

I really love my trumpet
Polish it every week
It is awesome

17. Have you ever noticed how sour candies taste even more sour if you rub them on the side of your tongue?
Yes! And I *love* that 'cause the sourer the better!

18. What book(s) are you reading at the moment?
Not much right now, but I am reading a great new novel called: if i stay

It's really touching and beautifully written. It says on the cover that it will appeal to fans of Twilight but I totally disagree. It has NOTHING to do with Twilight!

19. How many doors are there in your house?
Ummmmm.....a lot.

20. How would you solve a problem like Maria?
Now THAT'S a hard question!

21. Think of something about yourself. Anything. Go on, think of it.
Okay...

Now think of something more interesting. Write it down here.
My wrists are really skinny so all my bracelets fall off :'(

22. What's wrong with your hands?
Just the awful deformities of an obsessed trumpet player....they are quite warped. Especially the right thumb.

24. What's your favorite show tune?
DANCING QUEEN- FEEL THE BEAT OF THE TAMBOURINE OH YE-E-AH. YOU CAN DANCE, YOU CAN JIVE, HAVING THE TIME OF YOUR LI-I-IFE! OO-OO SEE THAT GIRL, WATCH THAT SCENE, DIGGIN' THE DANCING QUEEN!

Oh yeah. Love that song.

25. Okay, you can tell us what that first thing you thought of for number 21 was. We all want to know.
Well I was reflecting on my height challenges.

~miss less-than-five-feet-tall

And I tag,
Anyone who either:
a) Owns a piano
b) Likes/loves colored pencils
c) Thinks that eels are awesome
d) Has loved mac'n'cheese their entire life
Or
e) All of the above!

Earth Day: A Story and Tips

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

I'd like to start with a little story. I find it funny, so enjoy!

ONCE UPON A TIME.....there was a teenager named Cornet Crazie. She loved many things, but three things especially. 1. Her family and friends and God 2. Music and all of her instruments 3. Her blog and everything about it. Because she loved her blog, Cornet Crazie decided that she was going to make it more interesting on holidays. She had so enjoyed the different looks over the Easter season so she decided to do it for EVERY holiday. Cornet Crazie grabbed her laptop, got it to Acorn (a Photoshop-like application), and her school planner which happened to have all the holidays in it. She flipped it to the current date (April 4) and started looking for the upcoming holidays. The first date with a holiday was April 22- Earth Day. She set to work creating a header with a pretty clip art Earth and a cute heart over it- opaqueness tampered of course. With swirly fonts the header was done. Cornet Crazie went through all the holidays in April-June loving all the holiday headers she made, but the Earth Day one was her favorite. She waited and waited, the headers saved on her desktop. Then, a few days before April vacation, Cornet Crazie's language arts teacher dropped the bomb. All their laptops were being taken away over vacation! She was not happy- but didn't even think about the headers. Yesterday, Cornet Crazie realized that today was Earth Day and that her header was on her laptop- at school. And that is the story of why there is no pretty Earth Day header today. THE END.

Here are 5 tips to save the Earth:

1. Plants give off oxygen- plan to plant a garden and heal the ozone!

2. Skip the shower today and save water

3. Cut down on TV time to save energy

4. Make sure your faucets and toilets aren't leaking

5. Make sure all your lights are LED or CFL

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

One of the good 'ole days

Haha. Today has been pretty good- and what makes it even better is that there's still a bit more to come! This is going to be a kinda random post, but that's ok, right? Anyway.....

After breakfast me and XanFan and the cousins countinued our game 'War' (the card game) for a while and we brought the laptop out and listened to my playlist too. They love the Owl City, and so do I! Afterwards we went outside and XanFan and I threw the softball/baseball around and then all four of us went into a neighboring field for some whiffle ball. It was so nice out that when we were done, we ran back to the house exclaiming that we should have a picnic lunch over in the field! We did just that. It was very fun :) After lunch some storm clouds were rolling in but XanFan and I stayed outside and whipped the baseball back and forth for some more- even when it started to pour! Soon after, the clouds cleared up and we went on a two mile hike along the 'Shore Path'. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera! Sadness. It was very pretty! We came home after that and watched the movie 'Old Dogs'. It was funny! LOL. Anyway, that's where we are now. We're about to have dinner- Everyone else is having meatloaf with bacon, but I've got myself a nice stuffed portebella mushroom! After supper is our evening ritual game of.....Apples to Apples! Best game on the planet if you ask me. Only other new news is that get ready for A new profile pic coming soon- I've been working on one these past few days with Xanfan. See ya!

Hola from 3 hours northward

Well, we're here! The car drive seemed long and XanFan tormented me the whole way but oh well. Not much to report from out here, except that the weather sure has been funky! Anywhoo, it's good to relax and chill without the parents around.

Here's the bad thing though- For some reason this computer has a trouble with some links. Like I can't change sidebar gadgets. :P So unfortunately the Prayer Requests, Announcements, and The Cornet Crazie Is:, gadgets will bot be updated again until THURSDAY.

Hoping to get some pics over the next few days :)

Now about the leaving. I'm headed up to the grandparents tomorrow with XanFan, but I should be able to post (See posts from last year's adventures up there HERE- Post titles: Vacation: Fun or Boring?, Hip Hip Hooray!, Porcupines, It's Raining......., just plain old STUFF, my story, deer and polls, Home Today!!!. Wow I was NOT a very good writer last year.)

Anyway. My band folder has reached an astounding record. It weighs 8 pounds. Wheeeee. Another heavy thing to drag around. :P

a conversation with two guest bloggers

Hello fabulous readers! Today we welcome two people to the Treble Clef stage: My brother XanFan2 and my grandmother who's over here today who we'll call 'Bee'. She kinda has an obsession with bees. I'll be in BLUE, XanFan will be in BLACK, and Bee will be in PINK. Say hi guys!

hi my name is bob

Hi, yes I'm Bee, and I'm bummed because it's cold and raining!!

I hate heavy rain in April! What about you XanFan? This weather's awful for whiffle ball!

i like pie it tastes good

Especially Bee's pie!!! YUM!

I'm not thinking about pie right now, just about the flowers in the garden and the BEES out there....

Like THIS bee?

Yeah. Like that bee.

flowers smell good

...except for the flower called a stinkpot.....I think it's a trillium.

YUCK! And isn't there one that smells of rotting human flesh?

its fun sitting on the couch

Well I'm sure you find that fun as it's your so-called natural habitat. But me, MY natural habitat is the auditorium and 201.

Well, my natural habitat is sitting on the bench in my garden, reading a good book, enjoying my coffee, smelling the flowers, watching the world go by....

cupcakes are good with pie

What is up with your randomness?

fireflies are bright

And the song Fireflies is awesome. I LOVE OWL CITY!!!

I don't think I'll be providing any cupcakes with any pie I make.  However, there are other things, like chocolate chips, or whipped cream, or pretzels.

ni.

Oh great.  Do NOT start on the Monty Python stuff. Anyway, I think we'll sign off now. Au Revoir!

Sayonara!

bye.

Eldarwen's Blog Party!

Woot! Eldarwen's having a blog party, complete with a giveaway for an Owl City CD and so questions/tag thing. The button is on my sidebar over there >>>>

Anyway- here are the answers to her questions:

1) How old are you? 14 :)
2) What name do you go by on blogger? The Cornet Crazie right now. I've been Spottedstar28, Spottedstar and Princess of the Instruments but none of them seemed to fit very well, so they are gone.
3) When is your birthday? February 28 bore at 12:34 which is cool cause it's 1-2-3-4 and my bro is 5-5-5, lol.
4) If you could live anywhere in the world, besides where you live now, where would it be? `Hmmm. I'd like to visit a lot of places, but I can't think of one that stands out as where I'd like to live.
5) How did you find out about Blogger? My buddy Olive Tree :)
6) Tell us something interesting about yourself: Well, I seem to be quite accident prone. Squishy indoor soccer ball causes a concussion, broke tow by stubbing it, was one of the only 3 people in my school who caught swine flu, etc.
7) What was your favorite toy when you were little? I had this stuffed alligator that was sometimes called Baby Gator and sometimes Princess. I would get mad if my brother twisted it's tail or something so I'd pretend that it was a broken bone or something and give it a toilet paper cast.
8) What is your favorite meal? Have you ever cooked/helped cook that meal? OK so I used to have different favorites when I wasn't vegetarian but this is a newfound favorite. It's spiral pasta with spinach, cherry tomatoes, garlic, all put in a frying pan, and then tossed with parmesan and asiago cheeses.
9) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? You know, I'd LOVE to be a bit taller. Just like 3-4 inches. Please???? That's not too much to ask is it? Seriously I'd much prefer being 5'3'' instead of just under 5'.
10) Are you an outside person, or an inside person? Depends on the day, my mood, my activities, THE WEATHER.....
11) Are you a mommy's boy/girl, or a daddy's boy/girl? umm, not sure?
12) In one word, describe the feeling you get when you stub your toe, after just being told by your parents that you are grounded for the next month: AWWWW-OUCH!
13) Let's say you TP'd your friend's house (for those of you who don't know what TP'd stands for, it means toilet papered. As in, put toilet paper on their trees, cars, house, porch, etc.). If someone asked you why you TP'd your friends house, you would say: Well, ya know. Just, uh, sharing in the holiday spirit.
14) Have you ever gone swimming in deep, dark, dirty water? Deep? Dark? Dirty? Mommy, are there sharks? HAHA. Love the deep and dark!
15) Have you ever dreamed about getting ready to leave the house, and forgetting to get your pants on? No, thank goodness. That would be embarrassing!
16) Have you ever done something so ridiculous, that you wish you'd never done it? If so, what? Probably lots of things as I can be quite ridiculous at times, but I can't recall any at the moment
17) Imagine that you saw a purse snatching. What would you do?
a. scream and run away
b. move out of the state/country
c. tackle the purse snatcher to the ground.
d. ignore it, start whistling, and turn the other direction.

I'd love to think that I'd do C an be a public hero, but in truth I'd probably do A
18) How many friends do you have on blogger? A bunch. I know some in real life and some I don't, but I love all my followers for sure :)
19) What makes blogging so much fun for you? Meeting people, getting funny comments, posting about my life, and the graphic design aspect.
20) You're a turtle, who has bet that you can win a race with a rabbit. How does it turn out?
I trick the rabbit into drinking a sleep potion that I will say is an electrolyte drink that will keep it asleep for 24 hours so I will win.

Other news is that---- I'M ON VACATION!!!!!!!!!! Also my job shadow day went very well, and it was quite fun :)

4.13.2010

Bugs, Flowers, and Trees

Here I am. Posting on a computer that is sadly not my laptop. *sigh* I wish they wouldn't take them away before vacations. Anyway, school was OK today. It was a little bit of a different thing cause it's the last real day before vacation, so I won't do the log. Wow. I am really just rambling on aren't I? OK. The real meaning behind this post. The title is the name of a very gross cafeteria lunch they served in elementary school and also the subject of some photos I've been wanting to show you. Of. Guess what? Bugs, flowers, and trees! (Let it be known that no editing, cropping has been done and that I didn't use my zoom once. Oh wait. Yes I did. On the one of the duck. But yes, I got that close to the bees) Wow. My writing is sounding very stupid so I'll just shut up and show you the pics:

I have to say it. I LOOOOOOVE my camera, and I hope you loved these pictures! Tomorrow's job shadow day--- soooo excited!!!

there may be.....a giveaway in the near future?

WOW! I guess I hadn't taken the time to view my followers gadget in a while because the last time I looked at it certainly didn't have as many people in it as it does now- A whopping 79 followers of Treble Clef! So I guess I owe it to you guys for being so great don't I? LOL. Anyway- here's the deal. If we get 85 followers (that's only 6 more....) before my 555 post (this is #533 so there's some time) we'll have a HUGE GIVEAWAY with say 5-10 prizes!!!!! So let's get those followers!

Jazzapalooza- The end of the road

Last night was our all-city jazz festival, dubbed 'Jazzapalooza', and I thought it was fun. This year, we actually were doing it at a restaurant that does jazz groups every Sunday nights which was a pretty cool change. Our training group was first, so I was rocking on the piano doing lots of improv and stuff like that. I liked the piano I was using. It was nice and loud, so I didn't have to bang on the keys. A little while later our performance group went up and it was seriously the best we've ever played those three songs. I wish the judges from states could've seen us then! My solo in 'In A Sentimental Mood' was finally played exactly as Mrs Barry had been wanting it all along and in 'The Jazz Police' I was able to play the way-high-above-the-staff stuff at the end with no problem at all. All in all it was an excellent performance by all! However, last night was also the end of the road for performance jazz in middle school. There's no looking back now though- On to spring jazz we go!

The Story of Bottled Water- Really Cool Stuff

A couple of days ago my aunt posted this video on her Facebook. It's called The Story of Bottled Water and it tells about the bad things about bottled water and why we should just drink tap water anyway because it's easier, better for you and the environment, and thousands of times cheaper. It's by the same people as 'The Story of Stuff' which I also recommend. I really think that we should try and heed these warnings and drink more tap water. The link to the video is below- please, please, please watch and get ready to tell me what you think- tomorrow's post will be a discussion about the movie and what we can do to be environmentally friendly, so please check back for that!

It's wet. Period.

I wish we could have some more days like last Wednesday. I also wish I had a million dollars. Darn. Didn't get either. Sigh.........it's been raining again, as you can tell. I guess that's just April for you! Anyway, after school, me and a couple other kids (6th graders and one 7th grader) were helping pack up some stands and rhythm section stuff for Mrs Barry to take for Jazzapalooza on Sunday. Well, yours truly, the oldest AND one of the smallest kids gets stuck with the keyboard bass. Typical.... We dragged the stuff outside, and then I was standing in a large, deep puddle while trying to load stuff, and the 6th graders weren't that helpful, they just stood around holding music stands over their heads 'cause they didn't want to get wet. That was pretty much how well my school day went, not to mention having a nosebleed all over my homework in math class. Gross. That was not fun. Here's today's log:

French- Quiz!!! :P

Social Studies- Watched movie and took notes

Science- Took notes in the lab

-Gym-

-Lunch-

Math- Quick worksheet and the free reading

LA- discussing the book we're reading

oh it's fridayfridayfridayfriday FRIDAY!!!!!!

YAY!!!! My favorite day of the week has arrived again! After a long week of schoolwork, abominable tests, and busyness in general, it's almost the weekend where I get to finally relax. Except. Not this weekend. *SIGH....* I've got a lot of stuff coming up here's the update:

Tonight- I'm going to my friend Ripplestar's after school (maybe we'll do a conversation post or something)

Tomorrow- I have a make-up trumpet lesson in the morning and in the evening I have my conformation sleepover at the church, and we've been promised not sleep at all.

Sunday- Church (have to do yet another worship reflection), show a movie after church to people who are considering going to the summer camp Pilgrim Lodge, and then that night we've got Jazzapalooza from 5-9!

Monday/Tuesday- Back to school with TOOOOOOOONS of tests.

Wednesday- Job shadow day! Woot!

Thursday- Half day of school, hanging with friends in the afternoon and we're on VACATION!!!!!!!

So yeah. I'm busy.

today's day and a sad statistic

Yuck. I HATE it when I have had such a boring day that I have nothing to post about. I need a laugh. Someone slap me. Whatever. Anyway, here's what happened in today's classes.

French- Participation points

Social Studies- Teacher went over yesterday's notes, we took more notes and did a worksheet

Science- Listened to teacher talk, began lab

-Band Sectional-

-Lunch-
Math- Worked on another worksheet

LA- Last day of job shadow preparation

I'm seeing trends already. That's not good. On another not-so-good topic we have 12 full band rehearsals and 18 sectionals left! YIKES!!!!! That is SCAAAAAAAAAAAAARY!

4.07.2010

C'mon. It's APRIL. You've got to be kidding.

It's April. APRIL. And it's been above 80º all day. Craaaazy! The warm weather made me remember how much I love summer! An only 41 school days until it'll really feel like summer. Cause I'll be free and on vacation! Anyway, I really hope this great weather holds, because I'm enjoying it. My French teacher's plant is growing stronger, the grass on the ball field is a lush green, it's 4th quarter, but still. I'm stuck inside taking notes on various subjects all day. Yuck. And speaking of school, I am finding that my classes seem to becoming awfully repetitive. So every day I am going to log what we did in each class. (I'll be excluding the following classes because it's OK to be a bit repetitive cause they serve different purposes: Gym, Chorus, Band. They will be included with just the name though) Here's today's:

French- Went over what will be on our quiz on Friday and did participation points

Social Studies- Listened to teacher review previous notes, and then took more notes

Science- Took more notes

-Gym-

-Lunch-

Math- Did worksheet

Language Arts- Had third day of preparation for job shadowing. This was actually quite fun. Can't wait to get back to regular class on Friday. *rolls eyes*

What I really can't wait for is to see the results after several days and compare to see if they are really as repetitive as they seem! Also, I've noticed lots of comments lately and I've greatly enjoyed reading your thoughts. I'm glad that you've found them enjoyable!

well. i got my thunderstorm.

I went into first period French class yesterday looked out the window and took a deep breath. "I think it's going to thunderstorm!" Was my exclamation. Bella was pretty excited too, and we hoped that it would happen during school. I've got some great school-thunderstorm stories from where the power gets all knocked out, and these are like *huge* storms and the supposedly 'tough kids' are the ones screaming their heads of and anyway.....that's another post. Well it got more and more clouded over but it only rained. :'( When I picked my brother up from his school though, the clouds were definitely storm warners. I was pretty happy because I love thunderstorms. We have this great wrap-around porch which is very fun to sit on during them. But what I don't like is when they come in the middle of the night, while your truly is trying to sleep. You see, I can sleep through thunder- but not lightning. So the storm decided to come at 2 o'clock in the morning, and that is why I am now tired. LOL.

What do you think of....

What do you think of when you see this?

http://blogs.houstonpress.com/rocks/treble-clef.JPG

Is it just a shape? Is it just lines on paper? Does it have meaning? For me, this simple symbol means a world more than just black ink splash on a white background. Look at the flow. Look at the curve. Can't you see how elegant it is? The swirl represents freedom and flow, but there is a line that cuts through it stopping the freedom. A constriction. But then, isn't that life? A beautiful gift to us. But whenever we think we are completely free we are stopped by another problem that has been handed to us. And then the curved line ending in a heavy dot. This symbolizes power. Notice that it's at the bottom, because we shouldn't focus on being powerful. Maybe that's why I like it so much, and it makes a great blog title because it's about life, and if the treble clef represents life......well, it's just a thought.

The beginning of the end

You may wonder what this title means, but it totally speaks the truth. Today marked the beginning of the end. Simply put, today was the first day of fourth quarter. It is the end of the school year, and more importantly it is the end of my time at my current school. At the end of this year, I will graduate and move on to high school. But still- it's only the beginning. But it's the beginning of the end. It's like in the 7th Harry Potter book. When they go to Hogsmeade and Aberforth's pub, it's the beginning of the end, and yet there are about 250 more pages left in the book! There's still a long way to go in both cases. But the end is near. The end is in sight. The only question is- is the end a spark of hope on a dark horizon? Or is it the thundercloud that covers the light of the sun?

ALLELUIA!

Alleluia! Christ is risen! HAPPY EASTER! You will notice that I have changed from the Good Friday black blog look to this happy Easter one. Don't worry, the spring birds look will be back up tomorrow! Anyway, I just love Easter church services. There's always brass, lots of flowers on the altar, rejoicing, singing the Hallelujah Chorus and of course the lovely sunrise service. Speaking of the sunrise service, I was up at 5 o'clock to get ready and be at the park at quarter of 6. We do our service at a very nice park, Fort Williams, which is by the ocean and a very nice lighthouse if I do say so myself. It was still quite dark, but the sun came up in time for the service to start, so I was able to see my music! (We had conveniently forgotten a flashlight) I played along to the hymns and during communion, and I was very happy that it was around 52º (F) which was loads better then last year when it was 12º (F). I think it went well, especially considering playing outside. Also there was someone snapping pictures who I later found out was from *gulp* the newspaper. So I guess I'll just have to look for myself in there tomorrow! The regular service was quite nice, but now I'm ready for some yummy couscous! Alleluia! Christ is risen! ALLELUIA!

Daybook, Dance, Job Shadow, Jazz Surprise, and other Easter related stuff

Date...April 3
Starting time...9:33 AM
Mood...intense
Outside my window...blue skies with nice wispy clouds. It's supposed to get really warm today!
I'm thinking...about tomorrow's sunrise service
I'm reading...Harry Potter 7 and Saffy's Angel
I'm listening to...my playlist
I'm wearing...jeans and t-shirt from Florida
Yesterday, I...went to the last dance of the year :)
I'm excited for...job shadow day!
I'm sad because...there's only 1 quarter left of school (which also makes me exceedingly happy)
I'm hungry for...tea and a bagel would be nice *waits for them to fall from the sky* or not.
The song stuck inside my head is...Stars and Stripes Forever (it's that time of year again...)
I want...It to be nice and warm out at the sunrise service tomorrow
I love... warm sun and green grass
I loathe...being bored
This week, my goal is...to learn the new piano piece
Did I meet last week's goal?...no, but I'm all ready
Ending time...9:43

OK, this is going to be a rather all around post, but I'm busy girl so that's understandable! Firstly, last night was our last dance of the year, and my last middle school dance. (we still have the 8th grade social, but that doesn't count =D ) Anyway, it was retro themed and Bella and Super Gato had these awesome retro outfits! They were really fun to look at. Me? I just wore skinny jeans and an orange tank top, lol. Anyway, we had so much fun and it was totally the best dance of the year. It was sponsored by the related arts teachers, and for some reason they're a lot more energetic than core subject teachers, and the best part was that they didn't just stand up by the wall watching, but they were out dancing to which was often hilarious to watch! They finally played Dancing Queen for us (thanks to a special request by our French teacher) and our group had so much fun with our routine to that song. Also when they played Tik Tok me and Elránia and Super Gato did our dance routine from the talent show, and I'm serious. EVERYBODY was watching us. They were standing up on the bleachers and crowding in a circle up front to see us which was super cool. So all in all, it was a fun night.

Now--Job shadowing! In 8th grade we get a job shadow day (this year April 14) where we get to go and, well, shadow someone with a profession that we might enjoy. I was able to get a place with the band director at the other middle school in our town, so I'm really excited for that!

Jazz surprise.....After our Jazzapalooza event on April 11, the two jazz bands come together with anyone else who wants to join, to form the Spring Jazz group. This is always an exciting, huge group. Anyway, yesterday Mrs Barry said that on this one song for Spring Jazz, Green Onions, she'd like to try something different and she'd like to play with the group in the saxophone section. And so she wants me to conduct the band! I'm so happy, this is going to be great :)

And finally, tomorrow is Easter. Alle- oops. Not supposed to say that word yet! :) I'm playing my trumpet out at the sunrise service that we hold by the ocean at six o'clock in the morning. I just hope it's not too cold! After, we'll do other stuff, go to the regular service at nine and in the afternoon have couscous dinner at my grandmother's. Fun! And then it's back to school...

APRIL FOOLS!

The cry that was echoed all around the school today.

At lockers between classes:

"Did you do the math homework?''

"What math homework?!"

"APRIL FOOL'S!"

Our math teacher even got us. Yesterday we had our final 3rd term math test. Or we thought we did. The real test was today. It was a lot easier than yesterday's fake test.

But was best was what we did in jazz band. I always get there before Mrs Barry, and today I snuck XanFan in with me. He got out his trombone and sat down in that section. It was hilarious how long it took Mrs Barry to notice. We were laughing so hard. AND THEN...she counted us off for our first song - In A Sentimental Mood - A rather slow melodious tune, and everyone instead plays 'Stars and Stripes Forever', the Sousa march we do for the Memorial Day parade. All in all, it was pretty fun.
