Snowy Holiday

It snowed right before Halloween, and there was still snow on the ground on the night of the thirty-first. It sleeted on Veteran's Day. (Much to our dismay, as we had to march in it....) And then it snowed on Thanksgiving. If the trend stays, we'll have a white Christmas. (Speaking of Christmas.....the holiday playlist is up, and soon I'll host my annual carol contest- check back for that!) Or, as my luck usually goes, it will be green on Christmas. And if I'm REALLY unlucky, it will rain. That would be a jolly Christmas....NOT.
Anyway, we got quite a lot of the white powdery stuff here in Vermont, and it made for some really nice picture taking.

Of course, it isn't quite as pretty now, a lot has melted. It's ok though, because I'm heading home today and I'd rather not drive in a bunch of slush. Driving in slush is awful. I wonder how much snow we'll have at home.....probably not as much as here because we're on the coast, and Vermont is landlocked. Whatever the case, I hope it stays.
Did any of you get snow over the holiday?

A is for April

I'm doing the A-Z blogging challenge! Should be fun, here's my first post!

A is for April.

A is for April fools, which of course is today....didn't have any really good tricks like last year, but I did manage to get my brother by putting salt on his toothbrush. Bwahahaha.

A is for April snowstorms, which equal APRIL SNOWDAYS. Day off I'm happy about, snow not so much
I'm happy about the day off though because...

A is for Another three days to study for end of quarter tests.
Even though this is nice, it reminds me that

A is for "April showers bring May flowers, but April snowstorms just bring extra school days."
Hmph.

A...is for April.

Oh The Pirate's Life

L
O
L

Sometimes Facebook can be terribly annoying....sometimes I just can't help but love it.
I was playing around with my settings this morning making sure everything was the way it should be when I clicked on 'languages'. Well, I thought, it's pretty simple what language I want to be in- English so I can always read it! Little did I know there were four English languages to choose from...
English (USA)
which was what i already had
English (UK)
English (Upside Down)
which i wasn't going to choose and
English (Pirate)

And oh my goodness, Facebook in pirate language is amazing. Here are some screen shots:

I mean REALLY. It is just simply HILARIOUS!
And goodness knows I needed this laugh with all the end of quarter tests today and tomorrow.
Although....there's a good chance there will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow due to MORE SNOW. We're supposed to get like fifteen inches...arrrrrgh. Just when all of it had melted away.

Curse ye old snow! ARRRR!

3.21.2011

it's....snowing.....

it was supposed to be spring.
the snow was supposed to melt.
the leaves on the trees were supposed to start budding.
the flowers were supposed to begin peeping up out of the ground.

IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING.

THE SNOW COATING MY ROOF WAS FINALLY GONE!

gone...and only a little was left on the grass.
the grass that was starting to look greener once again.

sure, the day was dreary.
yes it was clouded over.
yeah, it was a bit chilly, but not too bad.

and then,
in math class.

it
started
to
SNOW.

...happy spring indeed.

SnowDays

SNOW•DAY (n)
1. A day you get out of school because of excessive amounts of snow.
Ex: I was really happy because today was a snowday.

As mentioned previously, we get a lot of snow up here (usually) during the winter. Just happens to be one of the perks of living here. (Although SHOVELING the snow is not an added bonus.)
Unfortunately, these past couple of years, though we've had good snow, it's come at un-opportune time.
On weekends,
Vacations,
During the day,
During the night....but stopping well before dawn....

We haven't had our share of good 'ole snow days, lately.
I used to hate snow days. Now I love them.
Something about them makes you want to squeal with excitement and act like a little kid again.
Which is fun...I mean, when you have a snow day, you just HAVE to follow:

The Snow Day List

1. Squeal with excitement when you wake up and see lots of snow on the ground, and realize your parents turned you alarm clock off 'cause there's no school.
2. Don't go back to sleep but run around the house a couple times.
3. Eat breakfast slowly while playing video games with your brother.
4. After getting mad at your brother for always beating you, take your time and read the comics.
5. Beg and plead your parents to let you have a friend over- they always relent in the end.
6. When said friend is over, challenge your brother and his friend to some sort of competition whether it be on the Wii or a ping-pong challenge, etc.
7. Declare you will most certainly win, if you do, rub it in his face, if you don't, stick your tongue out at him.
8. Eat something warm and yummy for lunch, like mac'n'cheese.
9. Make popcorn for you and your friend and go upstairs to watch a movie.
10. After the movie, go downstairs and go outside to play. Say that your brother and his friend are welcome to join you, but hope that they won't.
11. Go outside and pelt each other with snowballs.
12. When your brother and his friend finally DO follow you outside, say your cold and go back inside. You don't want to have your face continuously pushed into a snowbank.
13. Make hot chocolate, and drink it quickly before your friend has to go home.
14. After she leaves go upstairs and blog about your awesome day so far.
15. Your shirt's still wet from outside so you take a warm shower and your mom yells at you for using up too much hot water.
16. Curl up by the fireplace with a good book, something that never gets tiring. Like Harry Potter.
17. Eat a nice warming dinner, preferably your favorite soup.
18. Play games like Apples to Apples with your family.
19. When your parents say it's time for bed because you've had a busy day and you have school tomorrow, complain.
20. Go to bed and wish for tomorrow to be a snow day so you can do it all over again.

Yep :)

Can You Spell Blizzard?

BLIZZARD OF CHRISTMAS 2010

Breathtakingly beautiful,
Limits of its power? There are none.
Incredible, in every aspect.
Zealous in wreaking havoc to those it strikes,
Zapping its victims with wind, ice and snow.
Awesome, amazing, and astonishing.
Raw, brutal storm.
Dangerous and sometimes deadly.

The Blizzard Is A'Coming

First, I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas! I know I did.

Now, we're getting ready for a doozy of a storm. Some of you living in New Jersey or the Carolinas may know what I'm talking about because this particular storm has probably already hit you.

Not snowstorm. Not flurries.

A good 'ole fashioned nor'easter.

BLIZZARD.

Yesterday that said heavy snow with wind. Now, it says blizzard.

When this is yellow, it means severe, but not too bad. Orange is like medium. RED IS BAD.

And just look at this! They're expecting 10-16" of snow....guess Hannah Marie and I will be able to play out in the snow this week like we've hoping. If you live on the East Coast, why not share your story of this storm in a comment? It's sure to be a good one!

Snow Love

Obviously....all I had to do was write a post about how sad I was that we didn't have any snow, and the forecast changed again! Now it's predicting snow from 4pm today RIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY! And not just flurries either, but plain 'ole snow. I may just get out of that bio test after all ;)
I had finished some history homework and was chatting on gmail with some friends from band camp. During a pause in the conversation I checked my facebook for updates and the first post in my newsfeed was I status that one of my friends had posted that simply read 'SNOW!'. Reading that, I threw up my window shades and there it was coating the ground, and coming down hard from the sky. Blessed, beautiful snow. Oh how I love thee. Quickly, I shut my laptop, raced downstairs, jumped into some snow boots, pulled on my pea coat, grabbed my camera and I was out the door. I actually got some shots that I'm pretty pleased with. Hope you like them!

Crunch.

The lights look so pretty in the semi darkness in the snow fall.

Especially our lovely dove of peace!

The bird house is slowly covered in snow.

Snow clings to another feeder and holiday lights create pretty bokeh in the background.

Simple snowy landscape.

My favorite one of all, this one is being entered into Horsefeathers' Words for Snow contest, because my favorite part about snow is how pretty it looks covering the lights :)

2.24.2010

so.......why?

This is the question I've been asking myself all day. So............why is it raining when it's *supposed* to be snowing? Let me just tell you, I have been sorely disappointed in the snow totals this year. Last year at this time we had 61.4" and this year we are WAAAAAAAY below average. Didn't have a white Christmas and it looks like the grass will still be green (yes, GREEN, not brown) for my birthday on Sunday. Siiiiiiiiigh........and math homework just really ends the day well. Or at least, THIS should:

Snow, Fundraiser, Honors Band, Etc.

Yeah yeah. My life is really busy so this is a kinda random post, but oh well. It should give you some good insights on my life.

Snow: It just won't stop! Well, i guess it does, for a few hours. But then it comes back drifting softly down. Ahhhhh..............

Fundraiser: Operation Help Haiti is underway! Anna13 and I have posters up all around the school and I put in a couple of announcements as well. We are doing a bake sale at the intermission of the drama production on Friday. I'm excited because I like fundraisers to be FUNdraisers.

Honors Band: Was hilarious. As usual. =]

Trombone Case: I finally got my new one!!!! It's all black, and wicked lightweight, and the best part is that is not plaid and broken like my old one.

Semester: Ends Friday!!! Thankfully, with all the work I did over the weekend, I am ALL caught up from when I was sick. I know I have at least honors, if not high honors.

A New Sidebar Gadget: Yep, this is the 'Praying For...' text gadget. I tried to make it be scrolling pictures, but it wasn't working :'(  Anyway, you can see that I have put some up already, because I've been reading about some concerns in some bloggers lives, and if you want to submit a prayer request you can on this post, or on my next post which will be the official one for that :)

Snow Tubing and Quiz

PHEW! I just got back from snow tubing with my YM group and it was soooo much fun! :) We went to this great park and you would just fly down the hill. It was great. We also had a great church service today, wish a very interesting sermon!

Anyway, now I'm back from tubing and REALLY craving some french fries, so I just popped some in the oven. Yum! :)

Also, I created this fun quiz today that I think you'll enjoy. Take it and tell me what you got. My result was YELLOW.

Miscellaneous

Yeah, random post coming up. I'll start off talking about yesterday. Yesterday afternoon Bella came over and we went sledding. There has been this HUGE snowstorm coming through and it hasn't stopped yet, so the sledding was good. It was really cold and windy, but we were able to make it through a whole hour of fun.

Today I went to church, and I really enjoyed the sermon. There were so few people there because of the storm, so that was really cool. This afternoon I have to transpose a piece of music and clean out my closet. A REAL chore. I actually think that I will try the Horsefeathers Closet Project approach. At least, that might make it a little more fun. :) And then......tomorrow we go back to school. Darn. It's been a nice vacation. BUT........I start clarinet tomorrow, so that is one good thing.

Strange Comments and Snow!

YAY!!!!!!!! It snowed yesterday and last night! We actually got 6 inches so I'm very happy.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas........" I hope. Speaking of that do you want to do a carol contest? The gist of it would be that I would pick some very random lines from Christmas carols and you have to guess what carols they come from. Some would be easy and some quite hard. (most of them hard) And the reason they'll be hard? Whoever wins gets a makeover! This includes header, avatar, signature, background, post divider (if you know how to put one on cause I don't know). Sorry but I have know idea how buttons work and how to connect them to your blog and such. Everything will be custom, except the background, unless someone is willing to share the dimensions with me :)

And now, I've been getting some odd comments. They aren't mean, just odd. On last week's daybook they commented:

Anonymous Anonymous said...
hi, how are you? synthroid online cheap synthroid http://dotnet.org.za/members/cheap-synthroid-online.aspx online And then they said on my post about science, "Better late than never............" They're just so totally random, I'm kinda weirded out. Also, since I'm planning on 3 posts today, that means after today, it's only 10 posts until 400!!!! Whatdaya what? I was thinking a special thing for each of my followers. And also, if I can get 4 more followers before then, it will be EVEN BETTER!

hmmmmmm i wish it would snow

No I am not crazy. I LOVE snow! (Until it's March and it's all soggy and wet and disgusting) Why do I love snow? Cause I'm a skier!!!! Skiing is definitely my favorite sport. It's seriously like flying over snow with this wind in your face, it's just awesome. Oh. I guess I should clear this up. I ski DOWNHILL. Not cross-country. Not as thrilling in my opinion. So, for all you skiers out there I have some awards! There is one for downhill and one for cross-country.
