Into The Future Once Again

It seems odd to me that we sign up for our classes for next year in January, with a half of the year still left, but that's what we do. And once again, it's forced me to think about the classes I want to take in the remaining years of high school before going on to college. Right now, I want to focus on music and science classes because I really like science and I intend on pursuing music after high school. And I gotta say....I like the looks of what my projected courses look like...

We need 24 credits to graduate and so looks like I'll be tracking well! Obviously, as I go along I'll fill in the charts and change things I need to change, but I hope that this schedule will work for me.

Also.....An exciting announcement....

So...we're done.

Yesterday totally did not feel like the last day of school. For one thing, it was a Monday. For another, it was a whole day of school. (It's usually only like 3 hours) We (my whole 8th grade class) went to Point Sabago and had quite a nice day on the beach. I brought my camera....but then I didn't know what to take a picture of! :P The water was chilly but I went in twice, and the second time, Bella and I stayed in for a while actually. (The trick was to keep your shoulders under the water) We got back around two, and when to homeroom for or final report cards. High honors again, yippee! At 2:15 school was officially out, and so I went to say goodbye to my teachers and then it was back home to prepare for graduation! Graduation was good and well, here we are! Brand-new freshman, class of 2014. We did it. we made it through middle school.  HOORAY FOR US!

An Ending And Reflection

I just can't believe that today it will be over! So much has changed since the beginning of this year. At first I hated my math teacher and thought the others were OK, but now it's pretty much the opposite. And I've just learned so much. I've excelled in math. I got my trumpet. I learned what truly makes a good teacher and a bad teacher. Just look at how wonderful this blog has become! I felt pride when I finished my novel. I can speak French pretty well now. I've learned to live, really live. I combated swine flu. I polished my dream. I learned clarinet and mallet percussion. I joined the high school marching band. Friends and social groups morphed and changed a bit. I learned to say goodbye. It's been an interesting year, and that's for sure! And well, I've still got today. A day filled with a fun field trip with my class during the day and goodbyes and graduation in the afternoon and evening. It's a good way to end it.

We're almost there...

*Squeals loudly* Only ONE MORE DAY of middle school! We graduate on Monday night :) It's sad in a way but also really exciting. We had our step-up day to the high school today as well. What can I say about that? One word certainly comes to mind. Lost. I honestly had no idea where I was going the whole time! Oh well. Plenty of time to learn where all of my classes are! Sorry this post is kinda short, I'll end with some pics of my *new* high school schedule.

You want amazing? I'll give you AMAZING.

Last night was just.....incredible. (Incroyable!) In case you did not know, it was my final band concert and I couldn't have hoped for it to be any better. Conducting the band was ohsomuchfun, although it was strange having my back to the audience- but I think that the jazz band played that song (Green Onions) the best that they'd ever played it. Was fun :)

The 8th grade band also wanted to do something special for Mrs Barry at the end of the concert so yesterday morning I made a giant card and throughout the day me and Bella and Liam were able to have everyone sign it with a little note and then before the last song me, Bella, Liam and Jakob presented it to her with an 'elaborate and awesome' boquet of flowers and some chocolate. She was really happy and everything was great.

Concert band was just.......phenomanal. For the people who had solos- they were extremely good!!

So that was it! My final 8th grade concert *sob*. Well, in other news:
  1. Grades
closed yesterday so I don't have to do ANY MORE WORK in middle school
  2. We get our high school schedules today!!!!
  3. We get our yearbooks today and get to sign them during last period.

It CANNOT be!

The picture above pretty much captures the feeling at the end of vacation. Hence, the title of this post. Because 'NOOOOOO IT CANNOT BE!!!' Is pretty much how I'm feeling about going back to school. (even though we *do* have tomorrow off as well) Sigh...I was just getting used to sleeping in and not getting up at 5:30 every morning-- lol. However, I'm on the home stretch now! In fact, 3 people in my family are. My mom, bwk, will be graduating from massage therapy school at the end of May, my brother, XanFan, is graduating 5th grade (moving out of elementary school, into junior high/middle school) on June 15 and I of course will be graduating 8th grade on June 14 and moving on to high school next year. Which ultimately means a lot of things (probably for all of us) 1. We don't have much new material to cover 2. We have lots of review 3. WE'LL PROBABLY BE HAVING GIANT TESTS AT THE BEGINNING ON JUNE. I don't mind the first two, but I could do without the third :) Anyhoo, that's where I'll be in these next two months or so: Studying, doing fun 8th grade stuff (like 8th grade dance, class trip to the lake, outdoor classes, section leaders for Memorial Day Parade, etc) and of course, feverishly preparing for the final concert- on June 9. It's going to be a great concert; I can just feel it. I'll be playing trumpet, cornet, trombone, mallets, singing in the chorus, and conducting a piece, so I've got LOTS to prepare for! Of course, I love it all so it's more pleasure and less work really :)

Looking into the future...

Wow. Good day today but what I'm talking about is our peek into the future, and of high school. After hearing the principal at the high school talk, I'm actually pretty excited, yet kinda sad because I really like the school that I'm at. Anyway we talked about all the classes and electives and clubs and stuff. And all the credits you need to graduate. But I won't go into all the boring details I'll just tell you what I'm going to take next year. (I haven't actually signed up yet, that will happen on January 12th)

Clubs and After-School activities (more might be added, it depends)

Marching Band
1 or 2 of the Jazz Bands
The Musical (either having a part or playing in the pit)

Classes (certainly going to happen!)

English (9)
Phys. Ed.
Math II
French II
World History
Honors Biology
Concert Band
Wind Ensemble

In high school I'm really only going to be playing trumpet family stuff (the band director already wants me to be trying fluglehorn!) And then if I make Jazz Ensemble on trumpet I'll probably try the Jazz 2 band on trombone. But mostly just trumpet, cornet, and fluglehorn, I think.

So yeah. That's my plan for clubs and classes next year. Exciting! Other kids from my school: What are you thinking about for next year? (If you're graduating from 8th grade this year)
