14!

This is the wonder of scheduled posts. I have scheduled this to post at exactly 12:34 PM today, the minute *I* turn 14! Fun! My second year in true teenager-dom. :) I'll post about my day later, and do my daybook tomorrow!

Honors Band

Wow! Today was the honors festival for our district and it was really fun. It was amazing that we only got 4 hours of rehearsal instead of 7 (because of yesterday) and still pull off an amazing concert. Everything was great :) It was also Super Gato's birthday so we got to make fun of her the whole day, which was fun. And speaking of birthdays.....mine's tomorrow! 14, here I come!

Life is so much better now

Ya know, I've actually had a really great day. Funny how that happens, doesn't it? Anyway, I had been on the computer for quite a long time this morning contently checking e-mail and facebook for honors updates. It seemed pretty bleak at first. No phone, no power over at the host site, and Mrs. Barry (my band director) couldn't get in touch with the host because of that. Well, finally we get some news at least. Mrs. Barry was going to drive to the school so that we could get our instruments. So my mom took me in, and Mrs. Barry told us that she was expecting a call from the coordinator very soon and that she'd get in touch with us so that we'd know the plan for tomorrow. Well, a little over an hour ago the phone rang. I was on my laptop working on Trumpet's Secret (I'm SO close to being done!) but I jumped up, grabbed the phone and answered. It was Mrs. Barry! And she brought the best news of all. The festival would go on as planned tomorrow! I nearly screamed. After going over details and she asking me to call a couple of people, she hung up. I was so happy, I was jumping up and down. And then my mom made it even better. She said that me, my brother, my brother's friend who was over and the boy, Zach, who lives next door could all walk down the street and get ice cream! It was so nice out, and it felt so much like spring with the sun shining, birds singing, walking down the street, chocolate shake in hand. So anyway, life's good. How about you? Off to finish up Trumpet's Secret now!

Curse you!

I've said it many times before, but now I must say it one more time as it has ruined my day. CURSE YOU RAIN!!!!!!! It rained so hard that the brook and marsh by my house are completely flooded. The wind was also extremely extreme (lol) bringing down several trees and knocking power out of most of the neighborhood. (We have power though) Well, then we got the phone call saying that school was canceled. Normally I might have been like, "Cool! A flood day!" except that today was going to be like the best day ever. I was going to be at school bright and early for training jazz band, and then head off to the first day of the honors festival. (Which meant we got to skip school!) Go, have fun, come back to school and have a pizza lunch. After that we were going to go to our last class, which for me, was band. It was going to be so awesome! So we called my band director to find out what was happening but she really didn't know any details or anything so we're waiting for a call back. Sigh........ CURSE YOU RAIN!!!!!!! CURSE YOU!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL READERS OF TREBLE CLEF

This is really important. We are less than 20 posts away from 500, and I'm getting ready for a celebration. I'd like to do something for all my followers (a little award-y type thing) , but as some followers have quit blogger that would be pretty pointless. So. If you come here often, would like to be recognized as an AWESOME member of Treble Clef (YES, you MUST be following!) Drop a comment here. This will be accessible through a link in the sidebar up until post 500.

2.24.2010

so.......why?

This is the question I've been asking myself all day. So............why is it raining when it's *supposed* to be snowing? Let me just tell you, I have been sorely disappointed in the snow totals this year. Last year at this time we had 61.4" and this year we are WAAAAAAAY below average. Didn't have a white Christmas and it looks like the grass will still be green (yes, GREEN, not brown) for my birthday on Sunday. Siiiiiiiiigh........and math homework just really ends the day well. Or at least, THIS should:

2.23.2010

Back In The Routine

Yesterday was the first day back at school and it went pretty well (especially because I got my laptop back) except for this part:

French teacher: You have a quiz on Friday

Social Studies teacher: You have a quiz later this week and a test next week

Science teacher: You have a quiz on Wednesday

Language Arts teacher: You have a vocabulary quiz next Monday

The only subjects there was no quiz to study for were math (thank goodness) and band, but I still need to study and mark up my music for upcoming events. So, needless to say, I was completely bogged down with studying last night and so that's why I didn't post this until now. I *also* got another chapter all fully revised. Well, time to go have some breakfast and get ready for jazz band!

****BLOG NOW UNDER MAJOR CONSTRUCTION****

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up doesn't it?

Keep checking back for the new Spring look!

Long Update

I couldn't really catch up on stuff while I was away, so I'm going to that today.

First off, our 3rd day of skiing went pretty well, except that it was still windy and even colder than Thursday. And I didn't really end the day all that well. I was on the terrain park doing a canyon jump that I had done many times before, but this time I had to much speed and not only cleared the gap, but the landing stage as well! So I found myself hurtling through the air, and I lost my balance and fell. Right on top of my left wrist. Ouch.

Next, here's my daybook

Date...February 20
Starting time...8:12AM
Mood... undecided
Outside my window...baby blue sky's
I'm thinking...about the end of vacation
I'm reading...Harry Potter 4
I'm listening to...Night on Bald Mountain
I'm wearing...jeans and my jazz band t-shirt
Yesterday, I...came home from skiing
I'm excited for...honors festival and my birthday next weekend
I'm sad because...vacation is almost over
I'm hungry for...a bagel
The song stuck inside my head is...Scherzino (I'm practicing conducting it)
I want...a longer vacation
I love...conducting
I loathe...the end of vacation
This week, my goal is...to not have a lot of homework
Did I meet last week's goal?...thankfully yes :)
Ending time...8:16AM

Next,  Eldarwen over at A Faithful Elven Princess is hosting a giveaway over at her blog! Go and check it out!

Finally, here are some pictures from our ski trip!

The ride up to the top on a cold chairlift.

The snow-covered trees were so pretty!

2.18.2010

this is the THRILL-SEEKING life

What a day! Loved every minute of it, :) and boy am I tired out! It was a great thrill-seeking day. Did lots of stuff on the t-bar, some good terrain park runs, (OMG the rails and canyon jumps were awesome!) tons of mogul runs (thus the busted knees) and some adventures up to which I will now explain.

After lunch, I met up with Halestone and Quinnie and a couple of their friends and we went to do some runs at the top. Well let me just tell you. AMAZING. (and uh..............highly dangerous and risky.....yeah.......) We only ended up doing three runs because the wind up there was blowing so hard. I don't know how hard it actually was but I had difficulty staying on my feet! And if that wasn't the only thing! The clouds were even lower than yesterday so it was like skiing blind, only it was totally cool. Like seriously, the only thing you could see was cloud and snow and occansionly a glimpse of a bright colored coat.

But all and all I had a great time and I can't wait for a final day tomorrow! But for now it's off for a hot dinner of mozzarella sticks and ceasar salad over at the Red Onion!

2.17.2010

THIS is the life...

This morning my family woke up super early and drove the three hours up to Saddleback. And let me tell you- THE DAY WAS FANTASTIC. The slopes were powdery and I spent most of my time skiing down from the top. And it was soooo cool. We would take the t-bar up to take the new quad to the top, where we were deep in the clouds. The view is normally stunning but today the clouds were really low and it was actually quite erie skiing down these really steep trails and only being able to see for a 15/20 foot radius. Anyway, we're about to head off to dinner at the Red Onion, and I'm really looking forward to a plate of yummy pasta!

Movie Review: 9 (and Saddleback)

Last night when Olive Tree was here, we watched the movie '9'. First off, it should NOT have been rated PG-13. It was less violent then Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was rated PG! Basically, the story is that all the people have been killed in a great war and there are only these 9 little manikin people who weren't killed and they have to fight the machines that took over the world. And 5 of them die, but as they are set free it starts raining again, and what comes out of rain? New life! My rating? 3 out of 5 stars, because although it carried a really important message, a lot of the parts were just pointless.

Also, tomorrow I leave for Saddleback!!!

I *LOVE* this mountain. The view from the summit is INCREDIBLE and the trails are awesome. We'll be skiing there for 3 days, but luckily, my dad is bring his laptop so I'll still be able to post and check e-mail every night. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive so we'll have to leave around 6 tomorrow morning, but it will all be worth it once we hit the slopes!!!

2.15.2010

I'm bored.

I'm bored.

I've spent the whole day cleaning.

Because I'm going to go pick up Olive Tree at 4

She lives a half hour away

Cause she moved last year.

Anyway, I had to clean.

Which rendered me completely bored.

Thus only being entertained by the sounds of my brother watching iCarly (?)

And messing with the fonts and colors of this post

Which is actually a little fun.

But STILL.

Did I tell you we got into the talent show?

But you probably already knew that from Elrania's blog.

Sorry Elrania. This PC computer can't do accents.

Saaaaaadness.

Also, I want a fish.

Like, they're dreadfully boring, but sparkly and flashy.

And it's better then no pets at all.

We used to have fish ya know.

But they died.

RIP.

One of them was named Flower.

She was EXTREMLY fat.

She even died of over eating.

That's just....

Anyway, when she died she didn't go belly-up at the top of the tank.

She sank to the bottom.

Poor Flower.

And then there was Snoopy 1 who lived one night.

And Snoopy 2 who lived a year and a half.

Well, time to go pick up Olive Tree.

Hope you enjoyed my ramblings!

Sweets for the Sweet

Happy Valentines Day! I know this is a bit late in the day, but I wanted to share some pics of a traditional Valentine's Day cake that my mom and I made today.

These first 2 are of the batter before it was all mixed.

The floured pan.

Into the pan we go! Soooooo chocolately and delicious....

And 35 minutes later.....

The final product. Yum!

So I had a good Valentine's Day. I played my trumpet in church this morning, worked around in my room a bit and made cake this afternoon, and went out to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant this evening. Plus, Olive Tree is sleeping over tomorrow night, which will be nice because we haven't seen each other since Christmas break.

Conflicting Emotions

I'm happy because- I got my new jazz band shirt today

I'm pleased because- It's the first day of vacation

I'm ECSTATIC because- I'm only a few pages away from finishing the first clarinet book!

I'm looking forward to- Skiing this week

I'm sad because- They took our laptops away for damage inspection

I'm melancholy because- I'm gonna miss my friends.... :'(

I'm puzzled because- my language arts teacher told the higher level reading group that we didn't have to take the test today (been saying this all week because we already took our test on the book) but she told us *in class* that we had to take it too.

I'm angry because- I REALLY REALLY REALLY FEEL THE NEED TO WORK ON TRUMPET'S SECRET BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE IT'S ON MY LAPTOP (which if you haven't heard already, is locked up in the school all week for damage inspection, which BY THE WAY was completed THIS MORNING, so I really have no clue why we couldn't have them back)

That was fun :)

Oh yeah......

This is my *471st* post!!! Any ideas for 500? It's a big milestone!

:'( WAHHHHHHHHHH. I had to let my laptop go today. Off into the great beyond. *sob!* Yes. I'm a drama queen. I still have the home desktop PC at least, but unfortunately, I have to share that with the other 3 people in my family which results in a lot of yelling of 'I thought Mom said you could only do homework on the computer' from my brother. Anyway, this also means no funny LOL cat pictures until I get my laptop back. So we are going to try an experiment instead!!!

I call it: Treble Clef Followers Challenge!!!!

All you have to do to participate:

1. Put the button below, in a post on your blog.

2. Put the link to my blog under.

3. People will hopefully see this and come here.

4. If those people like it, they can follow and leave a comment from whose blog they came to mine from.

5. The person with the best marketing skills (i.e. the person who is able to influence the most people) wins and gets an award as a prize.

CONTEST ENDS ON TUESDAY!!!!

Buzzzz, Buzzzzz

Haha. You may be wondering what all the 'buzz, buzz' stuff in the title is, right? Well, last night was our school spelling bee, and let me just say I LOVE OUR JAZZ BAND!!!!! We played 4 songs and we also did sound effects during the bee. My favorite one that I did is that when one of the teachers got the word wrong, one of the things I would play was the first few bars of 'taps'.

Also, ever since the comment contest, I realized that no one was commenting on my posts anymore, or so I thought. No more e-mails came to me to moderate comments....but then I just realized STUPID CORNET CRAZIE DIDN'T TURN COMMENT MODERATION BACK ON. So I looked at all the posts since I realized it and they all had comments. I guess I just totally blanked out or something. LOL.

2.09.2010

"Is this the real life?"

"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality. Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see....."

Bohemian Rhapsody. One of our chorus songs and it's completely stuck in my head!

"Mama. My time has come. Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time. Good-bye everybody, I've got to go. Gotta leave this all behind and face the truth. Mama. Ooo-ooh. I don't wanna die. I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all."

Elránia and I were at bell choir tonight and we both especially had this part stuck in our heads:

"I see a little silhouetto of a man. Scaramouch! Scaramouch! Can you do the fan-dan-go? Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me! Galileo, Galileo, Galileo, Galileo, GALILEO FIGARO!"

We just couldn't stop singing it! Oh how I love that song now......

A conversation

Elránia and I are in Science right now, and we're all done with our work so we'll have a little conversation here. I'll be in blue and she'll be in dark purple.

Science class is sooo boring........ AHHHHHHHHHH

*SHHHH!!!!* Mr Carter is right behind us!

i can't wait to find out if we made it into our school's talent show!

ME TOO! That's the first place I'm going tomorrow morning. To see the results!

NO, we actually don't find out until Thursday

WHAT?!?!?!? Did I totally blank out, or was I in jazz band?

you were in jazz band hitting malets, or however you spell that. mallets.

That's TRAINING jazz. Friday mornings. Today was performance jazz so it was just sailing away on the high notes instead.

has it ever occurred to you that everyone seems to be bored silly in science class?

Yep, many times, but for goodness sake, *SHHHHHH!*

*giggles* oh yeah, right. I can't wait for band sectional! I'd better get the solo...

HEY! There's Mrs. Barry now! She just walked in the room!

LOL she just saw us typing and gave me a strange look :)

THE Mrs. Barry look. Oh well.......it's too bad we can never keep a straight face.

Yup. This should be an interesting sectional, wonder what she'll say to us.

If you ask me, it'll be a pretty boring one....

quizzes. oh yeah. i didn't practice, but somehow I always manage to do fine in band

Yep. I'm glad I took it early. Although I'm probably going to retake it. I couldn't go fast enough because I was too worried that my trombone slide would go flying across the room!

i love the piece 'enchanted'. it's so cool! and i want the first solo

I know! I *love* that song. At the beginning I see an image of a girl walking through the woods and  she's very frightened. Then when the tempo picks up it's like a witch comes out of nowhere and it's a heart racing chase through the woods. And then when it gets all dreamy it's like the witch caught the girl and is enchanting her until the very end with that last triange beat the witch casts the final spell and the girl dies.
That's what I picture too! in the middle of the piece I hear the Galadriel theme song.

Cool! Well, it's time to wrap up, cause it's almost time for sectional Bye!
