Featured Blogger: Shelley

Over the past month or so, I've been working with Shelley, a wonderful blogger, to have here featured here. Take it away, Shelley!

What is your blogger name and why? My blogger name is my real name, Shelley!

What is the title of your blog and why?
My blog title is Being Shelley because my blog is all about me, my writing, my life, and what it's like being me!

Are you a cat person or a dog person?
I like both animals, but I'd have to say a dog person. Dogs are loyal, cuddly, and fun to play with!  : )

Describe your dream future life. My dream future life is whatever God has in store for me. I know He has a perfect family for me, and a job I will love, and many wonderful adventures planned for me. I hope God will use me to change the world!

How long have you been on blogger? I have been blogging for about 5 months now. I really enjoy it! One of my favourite parts of blogging is reading  kind comments left by blog buddies about my writing and blog. Also, I really enjoy reading other people's wonderful blogs! There has been many posts that have inspired me, or just simply make me smile!

Do you have any pets?
Yes, I do! : )

Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I can't really imagine being an only child!

What is your dream vacation?
My dream vacation is to go to a tropical island, like Hawaii! I bet the beaches there are amazing!

What is the quote that speaks to you the most?
Actually, there isn't a specific quote that speaks to me. I like quotes in general, but I don't have a favorite.

What are your favorite song lyrics?
I really love Britt Nicole's songs. Her music is so true, and real.

"We ain't getting caught in the undertow
We'll keep taking it easy and taking it slow
We're never gonna follow, no"
I really like these lyrics because she is saying that we have to be are own person, and not just be a follower.

Of these, which describes you best: Musician, writer, athlete, photographer, scholar, or artist?
Writer! Writing is my passion! My blog is all about my writing. I have also found a new interest in photography too! I have been busy taking pictures of the beautiful fall leaves on recent walks and hikes.

What faith do you practice (if any) ?
I am a Jewish Christian. I love God, and have been raised celebrating Hanukah, as well as Christmas! I like being both religions because that's one more thing that makes me, me!

What are some of your favorite foods?
I love to eat fried rice at Chinese restaurants! Yum! But without veggies!

How are you educated? I go to public school. But I wish I could learn by traveling the world and experiencing things! That would be awesome!

What are your favorite subjects in school? My favorite subject in school is art! I like to make and create! I think a reason why I like art so much is because as a writer, I love being able to use my imagination to create a work of art!

You say you like both cats and dogs....do you have either? If so, what are they like?
Yes, I have a dog, she is white a fluffy, and very protective! :)

What are some blogs you find the most inspiring?
Off the top of my head, I really enjoy Eden's blog Growing in Him, Anna's Blog Sisters in the Savior, and Emii's blog Girlz 4 God.

What would be the first thing you'd do on a beach in Hawaii? Hmmmm . . .  go swimming! Then I would collect seashells to bring back as souvenirs!

What is your favorite thing to do in art class?
I like when we get to do pottery. Working with clay is fun!
Wow! That's so cool practicing both the Jewish and Christian faiths, I imagine that that would be very interesting. Yes, I like it a lot! I've got the best of both worlds! haha

You can visit Shelley's awesome blog by clicking on the button below. Thanks so much for your great interview!

Featured Blogger: Olive Tree

Hello dear readers! Today I'd like to welcome my very good friend, Olive Tree, to Treble Clef.

What is your blogger name and why?
I'm called Olive Tree because that's what my real name, Olivia, means. A branch from an olive tree traditionally means peace, so it also means that in a roundabout way.
Plus, there are a LOT of Olivias in the world! I had thought for a while about going by plain ole Olivia but I decided I'd be just one of many.

What is the title of your blog and why?
My blog is called {of} HorseFeathers. It was originally called "Life of the Olive", then went through a stage of being "Peace, Love, and Chocolate" before I finally settled on HorseFeathers. Unfortunately the URL "horsefeathers.blogspot.com" was already taken, so I added the "of".
The expression "horsefeathers!" means "what nonsense!". Yet certain breeds of draft horses have fine fur around their hooves called "feathering". So I take it to mean that even what seems impossible or crazy can happen. :)

Are you a cat person or a dog person?
I'm a cat person, but I don't mind dogs as long as they're well-behaved and don't go around eating nasty stuff then licking me. My family has had Siamese cats as long as I can remember, and at the moment we have a seal-point, Daisy (age 5, with the personality of a troll until you start petting her) and a lavender-point, Willa (just over 1 year old and still very much a kitten).
Someday, though, I'd like a Great Dane. Or an Irish Setter. I love those dogs. :)

Describe your dream future life.
Oooh, okay, I have this all planned out.
So my life could take a few different paths....
PATH 1. I get a "big break" in my acting or modeling, become famous, make a lot of money. There's my career. Eventually, I find a nice husband, settle down far from civilization, and write novels.
PATH 2. I become a bestselling author early in life, become famous, make a lot of money. Eventually, I find a nice husband, settle down far from civilization, and write like the dickens.
PATH 3 (my most likely). I go to college for photojournalism and work for something like National Geographic, with lots of travel opportunities, photography as a career, and reasonable pay. Eventually, I find a nice husband, settle down far from civilization, and write novels.
Noticing a pattern here? Hahah. I don't expect a big break in anything, nor for any of my paths to be 100% accurate (as the saying goes, "man proposes and God disposes"), but that's my dream life, so hey.

How long have you been on blogger?
I started blogging about 5 years ago on my family's site, but didn't get onto Blogger until perhaps 3 years ago. I didn't start seriously blogging until February 2009 (or was it 2008? I can't remember). In about March of 2010 I quit blogging (I am impulsive, okay?) but returned in June 2010. In the past 4 months my readers have come from all over the globe, and HorseFeathers has achieved over 270 Followers. Thanks, everyone!

Do you have any pets?
Ohhh yes. Want the full list?
2 cats (aforementioned Willa and Daisy)
1 leopard gecko (Salvatoré the Stupid)
1 betta fish (Kosuke the Brave...ish)
10 laying hens (Olympia, Phoebe, Fatima, Lillith, Ophelia, Hildegarde, Helga, Susan, Roxanne, and Astrid)
and anywhere from 10-50 feeder crickets for Salvatoré, but I suppose they don't really count, do they, since they get eaten.

Do you have any siblings?
Alas, no.

What is your dream vacation?
Europe! Gosh, I love Europe (the continent, not the political assembly thingy). I've been to Norway when I was young but that's it. I want to go to England and Spain and Scotland and Germany (is that still Europe?) and Ireland and France and everywhere in between.
With camera in hand, of course. ;)

What is the quote that speaks to you the most?
"For beautiful eyes, see the good in others. For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness. And for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."
Beauty advice from my role model, Audrey Hepburn. :)

What are your favorite song lyrics?
Hahah, I have a whole post on that here... Let me see... I have so many. How about this one:
One minute I held the key  /  Next the walls were closed on me  /  And I discovered that my castles stand  /  Upon pillars of salt, and pillars of sand  -  Viva La Vida, Coldplay
Depressing, yes... thought-provoking, yes... inspirational, yes... cheerful, not really.

Of these, which describes you best: Musician, writer, athlete, photographer, scholar, or artist?
I'm gonna cheat and say both writer AND photographer. :)

What faith do you practice (if any) ?
Congregational Christian.
I love hopping around to friends' churches too, it's great to see how other churches practice.

What are some of your favorite foods?
Hmmm... I love sushi, I love chocolate, I love ice cream, I love tomatoes, I love toffee, I love tea... I better stop there, lol, or this is gonna be one long post.

How are you educated?
Public school (an AMAZING school system though), but for 3rd and 4th grade I was homeschooled.

What are your favorite subjects in school?
I love my Theatre Arts class and my English Honors class. I can't wait to take my Creative Writing and Digital Photography courses, too! *grins*

If you had a sibling, would you want it be a boy or a girl? Older or younger?
I'd like a girl, a tad older than I. Right now, I only have my mom, and it makes me sad.

You mentioned you like to hop around to different friends churches- what have they been like?
Great fun! I love YOUR church, Cornet, because everyone's so happy. My church is a little more somber, but we have some pretty roof-raising moments too.

Why were you homeschooled in 3rd and 4th grade?
My parents and I spent two years in the Caribbean, living aboard our little 39-foot sailboat. It was obviously not a great time to have public school, lol. (Though I did attend a Bahamian public school for a week... I couldn't understand a word they were saying because their accents were so strong, though! I remember they were very interested in me because my under-wrist skin is so pale you could see the blue veins under it. It was a bit of a surreal experience.)

When will you get to take those creative writing and photography classes?
Right now I'm just a wee freshman (9th grade in a K-12 scale for our out-of-America readers), but I should be able to take those classes next year and/or the year after.

Anything else you'd like to tell everybody?
Be yourself! I've struggled with this in my life and finally found that it's okay to be the person God shaped you to be. I hope that through HorseFeathers I can inspire other people to be the same.

HorseFeathers

Featured Blogger: Amanda

I've had the great pleasure of working with this lovely lady recently to have her featured her today. Introducing AMANDA!

What is your blogger name and why?
I don't have an "alias" on Blogger - Amanda is my real name (no, I'm not pulling your leg!). I'm not sure why I chose my real name over a cool (Elven, of course) name. Maybe I just wasn't creative enough at the time!

Are you a cat person or a dog person?
Both! I have a German Shepherd and a spoiled rotten cat named Opal. You can read about both on my blog, however the cat gets more air time!

Describe your dream future.
That's a hard one! I would love to be happily married, with kids, and work as a professional pianist or journalist. I'd also love to do mission work in Israel one day. In this sense, I'm a little odd - I don't have much thought out past college. I don't really care where I'd live - just as long as I can do what I love and serve Jesus (at the same time).

How long have you been on blogger?
I've been blogging since April 4th of this year! It's really exciting to meet so many people and grow so quickly in such a short time.

Do you have any pets?
I have a dog, a cat, and a rabbit that are "mine". I live on a farm, so we have tons of animals all over the place! It's hard to get someone to pet-sit a farm. Trust me. :)

Do you have any siblings?
I have three little sisters.

What is your dream vacation?
Oh, depends on whether it's a relaxing or working vacation! If it were a working vacation, I would love to volunteer for mission work in Israel. If it were a relaxing vacation, then I'd love to go to the United Kingdom and New Zealand!

What is the quote that speaks to you the most?
"It is vain to sit down to write, if you have not stood up to live" ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. That's one of my favorites, however, I'm a bit of a quote junkie!

What are your favorite song lyrics?
*Goes to iPod to look at most played songs*. I have a lot of favorites, however, I love Tears Fall, by Barlowgirl, and Note To God by Charice. My favorites change all the time though - I have music ADHD. :)

Of these, which describes you best: Musician, writer, athlete, photographer, scholar, or artist?
Just one? Darn... I would like to say Musician, but writer is probably the most fitting. In reality, it would be an even mix of both.

What faith do you practice (if any)?
I'm a Christian!

What are some of your favorite foods?
Nationality-wise, I love Israeli and Italian food. Other-wise, I love all things diary and chocolate! It's too difficult to narrow it down to specific dishes - the list would then have to be written on a paper towel roll.... ;)

How are you educated?
I am technically "educated at home", however I do my schooling through an online school. (The word "homeschooled" has always seemed to me to imply a dropout, local bad kid, ultra-smart geek, or extremely reclusive family. Of which I am none. But you knew that, right? Right?)

What are your favorite subjects in school?
I love almost all of my school subjects, but I'm especially fond of Music, Social Studies, and English.

How long have you played piano?
I've been playing piano for about 11-12 years. I'm not as good as I could be (as you might think), from the amount of time of taken, due to teacher switches, prolonged illness, and other factors. It's something that I love, and hope to pursue in the future as a career.

What are your siblings like?
(I'll refer to them using nicknames that my mom uses on her blog). D2 is the sister closest in age to myself. She absolutely loves sewing, singing, and anything having to do with Jane Austen. D3 is our horse lover - she rides, and is an animal whisperer. Pretty cool, huh? D4 is my youngest sister, who is at the stage where she'll spend hours upon hours reading and playing with her dolls. To fully satisfy her need for new books, I think we'd have to go to the library about three times a week!

What do you like to write about?
Fiction-wise, I really enjoy writing fantasy and contemporary Christian fiction (Mitford-style work, termed as "inspirational", in some circles). I have projects in both going, however, I can never find the time to work on them. I've also recently realized that I need to rewrite much of what I've done, since it's trapped inside my 14/15yr-old writing style, which has developed a LOT over the past few months. I also really have a passion for journalism, which is another thing I intend to pursue in college.

Have you always been 'schooled at home' or have you ever been to public school?
I have always been schooled at home! Most people are shocked when I tell them that I've never sat inside a school classroom. That, however, will change, because of my upcoming PSAT test.

You can read Amanda's blog- Farmgirl Writes by clicking on the button below. Thanks Amanda! It was a joy interviewing you.

Featured Blogger: The Golden Eagle

Enter.....The Golden Eagle!

TGE is the author of the lovely blog The Eagle's Ariel Perspective and she posts often and her posts are fun to read too! Her look is very nice as well.

What is your blogger name and why?

My blogger name is The Golden Eagle. I chose that name because birds of prey--especially eagles--are some of my favorite animals. :) They're proud creatures and I love to watch them fly.

What is the title of your blog and why?

The Eagle's Aerial Perspective is the name of my blog because I wanted a name that indicated a certain view of the world, since I started my blog to share my thoughts.

Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Well, I live with five cats but I think I'd rather have a single dog. (My mom wants a bichon frise.)

Describe your dream future life.

I'm a scientist working in the field discovering new species and new possibilities about Earth.

How long have you been on blogger?

I've been on blogger since February 27th, 2010. So almost half a year.

Do you have any pets?

Five cats.

Do you have any siblings?

Nope! Sometimes I wonder what it's like to have a brother or a sister, but I think I like my only-child status. It has its advantages and disadvantages.

What is your dream vacation?

Going to Kyoto, Japan in the spring to see all blossoms and exploring the city.

What is the quote that speaks to you the most?

"Live as if you'll die tomorrow, learn as if you'll live forever."--Mahatma Ghandi.

What are your favorite song lyrics?

"Here I am. This is me. I come to this world so wild and free. Here I am, so young and strong, right here in the place that I belong."--Here I Am by Bryan Adams.

Of these, which describes you best: Musician, writer, athlete, photographer, scholar, or artist?

Scholar, I suppose. I love writing . . . but I also love learning. :)

What faith do you practice (if any) ?

I don't practice any faith. I'm more of a person who focuses on rights, not religious reasons.

What are some of your favorite foods?

Chinese food. :) I'm Asian, so that might have something to do with it, but I adore Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein noodles, and egg rolls. Also, vegetable stir fry can be good. And those kebabs that I can't remember the name of . . .

How are you educated?

I'm homeschooled, and I love it.

What are your favorite subjects in school?

Science, Math, and History.

If you had a dog, what breed would you like it to be, and what would you name it?
I'm not fussy about breeds, really. If I was going to get a dog I'd probably go to my shelter and see what was there before thinking about a breed. But maybe something small with a good temperament like a Maltese. They're cute. As for names . . . well, that would depend on the dog and its personality.

You've already been on blogger for half a year, do you hope to continue?
Yes! I want to stay on Blogger for a while, definitely for over a year. I love the blogger community and all the different things that are going on online! Tags, awards, memes, themes, hops, parades, giveaways, contests . . . :D

What are your cats names?
Ah, the cats. Four of them are siblings aged 13 months or so who we've had for over a year, and another, older cat who we've had for over 7 years. The siblings are Cato, (she's very fluffy--sometimes I even call her that out of an old habit from when she was kitten and unnamed), Monet, (she's a girly-girl--except when she's around her brother, LOL), Tilcie, (pronounced TEEL-see--it's a take on TLC since she was a mess when we found her as a kitten and needed help. She had a wrinkly bald head, huge eyes, a spotty nose, and she wouldn't stop crying for milk), and there's the only boy, whose name is The Duster (named that because he's really, really furry and there was way in the past a group named The Dusters.) The cat we've had for over 7 years is name Hendersen. (Spelled with an "E"! I love names that are uncommon, and this seemed to fit his attitude.)

If you had siblings, would you want a brother or a sister? Older or younger?
I'd probably want a younger brother if I could choose. Mostly because I think I'd enjoy having playing with him. :)

Fan Questions

Before I get to the real meat of this particular post, I'd like to mention that if you want a really long laugh, to check Treble Clef on Friday evening to read the post entitled 'Cornet Crazie's Epic Fail'. You'll love it. Promise.

Anyway... As of today, I having been blogging on Treble Clef for one year, seven months and three days, and I think that it's time that you guys get a chance to ask me some 'fan questions'. This a chance for you to ask me any questions at all (within appropriate reason of course) which I will answer in what I hope to be a nice long post tomorrow. The reason I'm doing this is that sometimes I find myself wondering about other bloggers. Does Laurea like...? I wonder if Eldarwen has ever been to....? So if you want to ask any questions about me we'll have an 'Uncovered Blogger' post tomorrow. You may ask as many questions as you like but do it in this example format:

Your Blogger Name @ Your Blog

Question 1
Question 2
Question 3
Additional Questions...

Closing (If you want)

EXAMPLE:

Cornet Crazie @ Treble Clef

What kind of ice cream is your favorite?
Why do you play the trumpet?
How did you come across blogger?

This is cool, I can't wait to see the answers!

Finally, 3 people have contacted me about being featured bloggers....if you'd like to be featured, please email me!

a conversation with two guest bloggers

Hello fabulous readers! Today we welcome two people to the Treble Clef stage: My brother XanFan2 and my grandmother who's over here today who we'll call 'Bee'. She kinda has an obsession with bees. I'll be in BLUE, XanFan will be in BLACK, and Bee will be in PINK. Say hi guys!

hi my name is bob

Hi, yes I'm Bee, and I'm bummed because it's cold and raining!!

I hate heavy rain in April! What about you XanFan? This weather's awful for whiffle ball!

i like pie it tastes good

Especially Bee's pie!!! YUM!

I'm not thinking about pie right now, just about the flowers in the garden and the BEES out there....

Like THIS bee?

Yeah. Like that bee.

flowers smell good

...except for the flower called a stinkpot.....I think it's a trillium.

YUCK! And isn't there one that smells of rotting human flesh?

its fun sitting on the couch

Well I'm sure you find that fun as it's your so-called natural habitat. But me, MY natural habitat is the auditorium and 201.

Well, my natural habitat is sitting on the bench in my garden, reading a good book, enjoying my coffee, smelling the flowers, watching the world go by....

cupcakes are good with pie

What is up with your randomness?

fireflies are bright

And the song Fireflies is awesome. I LOVE OWL CITY!!!

I don't think I'll be providing any cupcakes with any pie I make.  However, there are other things, like chocolate chips, or whipped cream, or pretzels.

ni.

Oh great.  Do NOT start on the Monty Python stuff. Anyway, I think we'll sign off now. Au Revoir!

Sayonara!

bye.

Featured Blogger: Elránia

Welcome to the newest feature of Treble Clef! Elránia here has agreed to being my first victim- er - volunteer.

First I asked her some questions:

1. Who/what made you start blogging?

My friend The Cornet Crazie and Olive Tree first started out with a Warrior Cats blog, then we made our own and The Cornet Crazie helped me set up my own.

2. When did you start blogging?
My very first blog I started February of 2009

3. What has been your blogging journey?
Well, my main blog wasn't my first one, but a creepy stalker person was following my old one so I deleted that one and made my new one. I started out like every other blogger, not the best in the world, but I got more followers other than the people I knew in real life, and my blog just improved from there and now I have over 100 followers!

4. Have you met some good friends on blogger?
I really can't single anyone out. All of my blogger friends have been great and have helped me so much.

5. Why do you blog?
Because blogging is totally awesome and it would be a little stupid for me to not continue it because (I think) that my blog has been quite successful.

And here is the review of her blog:

Elránia runs the blog Of Elven Elránia and Her Horse. It's very nicely down in a soft pink, and it's very easy to read. She's got a lot of cute little things on her sidebars, but it's totally not messy. She posts pretty much every 2 or 3 days about her life and especially her horse Jewel. I always look forward to seeing the latest barn photos too! Also, she's got a playlist, with some great music. All in all, if you haven't checked out this blog, you should, and soon!
