Nothing could be better than....

I'm telling you. Nothing could be better that coming home from marching band finals with a gold medal, or from district jazz with a 1 rating or states with a nice big trophy. Yesterday was, of course, districts and we had so much fun. Your jazz band really is so much different then your concert band because it's so much more condensed and the people in it have to be really dedicated, and well, you're getting up really early to make before school practices with these people, so needless to say, we're a pretty tight group. We had an early performance and so before leaving we got to listen to the other middle school in our town and the high school later on. Also, I got to be part of drum crew which was fun, except for it meant a lot more trips out to the bus (which was parked really far away) than the rest of us. I, unfortunately left my coat at school and froze. But after we were all safely on the bus, Mrs. Barry stood up and first told us the soloists individual scores (ALL 1's!) and then the group score. WE GOT A 1!!!!!! (that's the best on a scale from 1-4) You have to have a 1 or 2 to make states so I'm really happy we were able to get that. Last year at districts we missed a 1 by 2 points and at states we missed a 1 by 34/100 of a point, which is insane and uncalled for. So, yep. That was the amazing night, except I didn't go into details about the ride home. Let me just tell you this- there's a reason we're not a jazz choir.
