beauty of photography (a guest post by Jessica)

Photography can be addicting, if you're like me (and tons of other bloggers).
What you can capture with a camera is beautiful.

The angle of the camera, position of the object, and lighting can make all the difference.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” -Aaron Siskind
photography. it's a way of reliving times with family and friends.
and remembering places you've traveled to.
Of course nature, people, animals, and birds are the most exciting things to capture, but you can also be creative with still life and cute objects.

You don't have to have the greatest camera out there. Or even a SLR camera. A simple point-and-shoot camera is all that you need if you have a love for photography.

And while editing is you're best friend or right hand man with photography, straight out of camera shots can be perfect.
Photography... it's kind of my life.

Jessica - 15, brown hair, brown eyes. Sister, friend, daughter, cousin, niece, granddaughter, photographer, artist, Harry Potter lover, tree-hugger, sky-sorer. Photography lets me escape into another world where I can capture God's beauty and share with family and friends. Art lets me create things real and unreal, exploring imagination on a new level. I'm the type of person who believes anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Thank you to Sally for giving me the opportunity to guest post. And if you've enjoyed this, hop on over to my blog.

On A Mission

A final round of applause please for ALL of our guest posters, I'm now back and blogging full time, which I'm very happy about. Guest posters you will be receiving a thank you email shortly, and I hope that some of you will come back to guest post again.  I see that again we have gained a few more followers- up to 191 at the moment- WOW! Nearing 200!

As I think I had said, I was on a mission trip this past week working with the Maine Seacoast Mission in rural downeast Maine on home repair. My church group had two jobs, an interior/exterior cleaning and painting job and putting a skirt around a mobile home. I was on the skirting job, and it was a LOT of work. Fun though as our group tended to do a lot of laughing, and I mean a lot.
It was a great week and it actually went by quite fast which I wasn't so sure about, and now I'm actually home through Monday until we go on our family trip to New Jersey.
Anyhoo....before I depart I'll share so pics from our week on a mission:

art | guest post by jennoelle

Art.  That one word can mean so many things.  It conjures up different images in the minds of different people.  It depends on the person, the place, the method.  But in the end, art is art, pure and simple and beautiful.

Art is capturing that perfect moment in a photograph.

Art is coloring away with a best friend to create a masterpiece of your own.

Art is practicing that music for hours no matter how tough it is at first.

Art is the burst of color that occurs when a firework explodes.

Art is stringing words together into something beautiful, be it a poem, song, story, blog post, or journal.

Art is a bud growing into a flower.

Art is settling down to immerse yourself in the lines of that classic favorite book.

Art is brush strokes that recreate a memory.

Art is listening to the music that water makes.

Art is scribbling down thoughts in a notebook just to get them out in a way that is sometimes easiest.

Art is pouring your heart out over the piano keys because sometimes that is the best way to express yourself.

Art is architecture that rises high against the sky.

Art is drinking tea as a pastime, comfort, and inspiration.

Art is putting together that favorite outfit with your own touch.

Art is light and color and God's creation.

Art is laughter with your favorite people.

Art is combining ingredients in just the right way to come up with something totally scrumptious.

Art is editing that photo to bring out the best of it.

Art is relaxing, and thinking, and feeling, and watching.

Art is sketching rough words and pictures to form something unique and special.

Art is traveling the world in search of an adventure and yet realizing you still have so much ground to tread.

Art is possibility-endless, breathtaking, personally-expressive, creatively original magic.

Art is beautiful.

I'm the girl with a thousand faces, a thousand nicknames, and a million dreams.  I seek adventure and friendship and laughter wherever I can, and then afterward I seek books and coziness and smiles.  I love this life God has given me, and my imagination is my best friend.  I'm the girl who almost always has something to say, and when I don't or can't, I write to express myself, like I do over at Unoriginal Originality.  I intend to live for the sole glory of my Savior.  I'm Jennoelle.  But you can call me Jenn.

the beauty of nature (a guest post by janet)

Nature is a beautiful place. We don't always think much of it though. To some people, nature means bugs, ticks, and dirt. Why not think of the positives though? Lovely flowers, adorable animals, and fresh air.

I can enjoy society in a room; but out of doors, nature is company enough for me.  ~William Hazlitt

Even if we spend time in nature, we often overlook the small things - the little things that truly make our world beautiful. A single blade of grass, a small rose petal, a tiny red ladybug; all are beautiful in their own way.

These little things come together to form our beautiful world. Next time you take a walk outside, instead of just walking around not paying attention, look. Look at the details. Look at that blade of grass, that petal, that ladybug, and think of how extraordinary our little world is.

Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars... and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful.  Everything is simply happy.  Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance.  Look at the flowers - for no reason.  It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are.  ~Osho

Enjoy the sweet sound of birds chirping, the wonderful cool breeze, the bright shining sun.

Sit awhile on the soft green grass.

To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.  ~Jane Austen

Gaze at the rainbow of colors: warm red, vibrant orange, bright yellow, cool green, deep blue, and my personal favorite, a light, soft purple.

Enjoy for a while God's beautiful creation.
